SHORT TAKES ON THE DRIFTING WRECKAGE – OVERNIGHT: 

COWARDS – FROM FOX:   A woman who lived through kidnapping and sexual slavery at the hands of ISIS had an event cancelled by a Canadian school board due to fears of "Islamophobia."  Twenty-eight-year-old Nadia Murad was scheduled to visit with students from 600 different schools to speak about her upcoming book, "The Last Girl: My Story Of Captivity," which documents the horrific treatment she suffered from ISIS but was told by the Toronto School District that her event could not be held because it could "foster Islamophobia", according to the Telegraph.  The decision to cancel the event was made by Toronto School Board Superintendent Helen Fisher, who argued that the book could be viewed as offensive to Muslims. The Toronto District School Board is Canada's largest, and the fourth largest in North America.  Murad’s book tells how she escaped the Islamic State after being taken from her home and sold into sexual slavery where she was raped and tortured at the age of 14.  At least one district parent, who identified herself as Tanya Lee, has criticized the school district for the move.  "This is what the Islamic State means. It is a terrorist organization. It has nothing to do with ordinary Muslims. The Toronto school board should be aware of the difference," Lee said.  Murad won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2018 and founded Nadia's Initiative, through which she is a leading advocate for survivors of sexual exploitation and genocide.   We have yet to hear from so-called "women's" organizations, who should be appalled by this story.

THE DEEP BENCH OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY – CHOKE – OVERNIGHT:  A new poll suggests that the party is near bankruptcy in its search for presidential candidates.  From The Hill: 

Vice President Kamala Harris and former First Lady Michelle Obama are in the lead for a 2024 presidential run if President Biden decides not to try for a second term, a new Hill-HarrisX poll found.

The poll found Harris in the lead among likely candidates, with 13 percent of respondents supporting her. Michelle Obama came in second at 10 percent. 

All other candidates listed received 5 percent or less support, with most voters surveyed still unsure of who they would back if Biden chose not run.

Other candidates in the poll included 2020 presidential hopefuls Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker, Michael Bloomberg, Andrew Yang and Pete Buttigieg. 

Thirty-six percent said they were “unsure” who they would vote for, while 13 percent said they would choose someone who was not on the list.

Biden has said before that he intends to run in 2024. If he won, he would be 81 years old at the start of his second term. 

Among poll respondents who voted for Biden in 2020, 22 percent said they would vote for Harris, the most of out of any candidate in the poll. 

Harris has struggled with her approval ratings since the start of her tenure as vice president. She has been tasked under Biden with handling the southern border and voting rights. 

The poll surveyed 939 registered voters from Nov. 18 to Nov. 19. The margin or error is plus or minus 3.2 percentage points.

COMMENT:  Are you not impressed?  Why, don't we all feel a yearning for Kamala Harris and Michelle Obama?  And...what if they were on the same ticket?  The excitement would be overwhelming, America's confidence would be restored.  (Yes, I'm making this up.)

I mean, come on, guys.  Is that the best you can do?  Wherever they are, Roosevelt, Truman and Kennedy must be looking down in embarrassment.  I'd love to meet some of the people who participated in this poll.  In what century are they living?  Maybe they're not living. 

But whoever the Dems choose, be sure of an enthusiastic response from The New York Times and MSNBC.

SHORT TAKES ON THE DRIFTING WRECKAGE – OVERNIGHT: 

AND NOW FOR THE REAL NEWS – FROM THE PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER:    Energy costs for electric customers are going up by as much as 50% across Pennsylvania next week, the latest manifestation of across-the-board energy price increases impacting gasoline, heating oil, propane, and natural gas.  Eight Pennsylvania electric utilities are set to increase their energy prices on Dec. 1, reflecting the higher cost to produce electricity. Peco Energy, which serves Philadelphia and its suburbs, will boost its energy charge by 6.4% on Dec. 1, from 6.6 cents per kilowatt hour to about 7 cents per kWh. Energy charges account for about half of a residential bill.  PPL Electric Utilities, the Allentown company that serves a large swath of Pennsylvania including parts of Bucks, Montgomery, and Chester Counties, will impose a 26% increase on residential energy costs on Dec. 1, from about 7.5 cents per kWh to 9.5 cents per kWh. That’s an increase of $40 a month for an electric heating customer who uses 2,000 kWh a month.  Pike County Light & Power, which serves about 4,800 customers in Northeast Pennsylvania, will increase energy charges by 50%, according to the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission.  The citizens of Pennsylvania will undoubtedly be told that, if they don't accept these increases, the world will come to an end.

THE MEDIA FAILURE –  OVERNIGHT:  The failure of the media recently to get the American justice system right would cause a shakeup in any rational industry.  But the woke media is quite proud of itself, and positive change is not in the offing.  From the New York Post: 

There’s a reason that the Waukesha massacre has faded from the national media.

There’s a reason that MSNBC and CNN and CBS refer to it as merely a “parade crash” and quickly move on to other news.

There’s a reason that President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have not prejudged the violent, racist, BLM-supporting career criminal charged with murder for driving his SUV deliberately into a Christmas parade in the mostly white Wisconsin town of Waukesha on Sunday, killing six innocents, including an 8-year-old boy, and injuring 62 others.

There’s a reason the media are incurious about the hate-filled, anti-white social-media posts of suspect Darrell Brooks.

Waukesha is of no interest to these people, not just because the story does not serve their political purposes, as the Kyle Rittenhouse case did when they wanted to paint Donald Trump as a white supremacist.

No, they are burying the Waukesha story because it threatens the very core of the progressive revolution convulsing the country: criminal-justice “reform.”

Six people would still be alive if Milwaukee had not been hijacked by progressive prosecutors.

“The Milwaukee experiment,” it was called in a gushing Jeffrey Toobin article in the New Yorker in 2015, praising Milwaukee’s Democratic DA John Chisholm.

Elected in 2006, Chisholm is a leading light of the progressive prosecutor movement.

His office let out Brooks on $1,000 bail Nov. 16, after he allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face and deliberately ran over her with the SUV he allegedly used in Sunday’s attack. Brooks’ criminal record is over 50 pages long.

Chisholm feigns dismay at the low bail now, but it was part of his plan.

If a free press can save a nation, it can also destroy it. Media corruption is one of the major stories of our age.  However, since it's the media that tell the stories, we read little about it.  The internet, with new sources available to us, may save the nation yet.
